A bridge is a great way to replace a missing tooth. Your bridge can be made from diverse materials such as gold and porcelain, and is bonded onto the surrounding teeth for support. A bridge consists of two crowns on either end and a pontic, which is the new tooth that replaces your missing tooth.
- Creating a bridge starts by preparing your existing teeth as abutments to which the bridge will be attached. After the abutments have been created, an impression is taken and sent to the lab. Once returned, the new bridge will then be cemented onto the abutments.
- The success of the bridge depends on its foundation: the other teeth upon which it lies. Therefore, it’s very important to keep your existing teeth, gums, and jaw healthy and strong.
